Diocese in compliance with USCCB protection charter

Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo has received a letter informing him that the Catholic Diocese of Richmond is once again in full compliance with the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

William A. Gavin, writing for the Gavin Group which conducted a week-long audit of the diocese, wrote Bishop DiLorenzo saying that full compliance was found “based on the completeness and accuracy of the information furnished by the Diocese to the Gavin Group, Inc. during the course of the audit.”

Two auditors visited the diocese where they met with Bishop DiLorenzo and spoke with diocesan officials to learn what was in place in the diocese and in parishes and Catholic schools to protect children and young people from sexual abuse. The auditors also visited a few parishes and Catholic schools.
